The National Lottery through Arts Council of England Awarded a capital grant of £181,000 in 1996. This led to conversion of one floor of Percy Shurmer School into our studio, rehearsal and office facilities which opened in June 2000.
New Opportunities Fund The Play House became the region’s first arts based Healthy Living Centre though a 5 year award from the New Opportunities Fund for £386,000 in 2000.
The Community Fund International Grants section awarded £186,000 for an innovative partnerships with the Nigerian Popular Theatre Alliance to run ‘For Tomorrow’, a sex and relationships education project in Northern Nigeria.
The Community Fund Supported a 3 year project in Sandwell called ‘Holding the Baby’ with a grant of £75,000 which involved every 14 -16 year old in the Borough in exploring the impact of teenage parenthood.
Birmingham Children’s Fund Supported the creation of three programmes exploring times of change for young people through grants of £63,000.
