Jack and the Beanstalk


Early Literacy Skills, Problem Solving.

Age Group: 3-7

Addresses the following areas of learning in the EYFS and KS1 Curriculum: 

  • Communication and Language.

  • Use spoken language to develop understanding through speculating, imagining and exploring ideas. 

  • Literacy.

  • Expressive Arts.

This participatory retelling of the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk enrols the children as Jack’s best friends who arrive for a play date and find he’s gone missing.

Where has he gone and how will they help Jack’s mum find him? It’s time for an adventure up the beanstalk to explore the land in the clouds and save Jack from a giant.

Children will:

  • Be invited to co-construct the story by contributing their own ideas. 

  • Develop their vocabulary and storytelling skills.  

  • Practice problem solving within the context of a story frame.
