Little Red Hen

Touring: All Terms

Literacy, Mathematics, Sharing, Growing Food, Problem Solving.

Age Group: 3-4 (EYFS ONLY)

 

The Little Red Hen workshop introduces children to counting, weighing and measuring, within the context of this traditional story. An interactive learning experience for young children. Little Red Hen uses puppets, cooking and storytelling to explore the concepts of growing and sharing.

 

The children travel with the Little Red Hen around the farmyard, meet the animals and problem solve how she will make the bread by herself.

Addresses the following areas of learning in the EYFS and KS1 Curriculum: 

  • Communication and Language.

  • Use spoken language to develop understanding through speculating, imagining and exploring.

  • Literacy.

  • Personal, social and emotional development.

  • Problem solving.

  • Expressive Arts.

 

Outcomes / Participants will:

  • Engage in mathematical problem solving.

  • Practice critical thinking about sharing and cooperation.

  • Learn about the processes involved in growing food and baking bread.

  • Develop vocabulary and literacy skills.
