LITTLE RED HEN

SPRING TERM

 Mathematics, Sharing, Growing food

Age Group: 3-5
 

Addresses the following areas of learning in the EYFS: 

  • Communication and Language.
     

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
     

  • Literacy.
     

  • Mathematics.

The Little Red Hen workshop introduces children to counting, weighing and measuring, within the context of this traditional story. 
 

This is an active learning experience for young children.   Little Red Hen uses puppets, cooking and storytelling to explore the concepts of growing and sharing. The children travel with the Little Red Hen around the farmyard, meet the animals and problem solve how she will make the bread by herself.

 

Outcomes
Children will:

  • Engage in mathematical problem solving.
     

  • Practice critical thinking about sharing and cooperation. 
     

  • Learn about the processes involved in growing food and baking bread.
