Storytelling Residency
Flexible - All Terms
COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT.
A Play House storyteller will work with small groups of children over the day to co-create shared stories together. The story created is based on a multi sensory, initial stimulus offered by the storyteller. The storyteller then builds on ideas and any developing narrative coming from children's responses, both physical and verbal.

Anansi The Spider
Spring Term

Anansi the Spider brings to life the tale of one of the great folk story heroes. Inspired by a wealth of traditional Ghanaian and Caribbean stories, this spidery tale will trick, sing and dance its way into children’s imaginations.

Ugly Duckling
Summer Term

Mummy Duck knows that Dumpling the duckling is beautiful, even with those strange coloured feathers and extra long legs. But the other ducklings are not so kind. So one day Dumpling flies away from home to escape the teasing words and begins the adventure of a lifetime. When Dumpling returns there is a surprise for everyone!
This interactive workshop uses puppetry and song and multi-sensory storytelling to bring to life the classic story of self-acceptance and kindness.

Oh dear! Somehow Acapella the tree frog has arrived in school from South America in a box of fruit. She’s lost and far from home. What should Cherry the greengrocer do? Could Acapella become the pet Cherry’s always dreamed of or does she really belong somewhere else? This sensory adventure will take the children into the rainforest to explore why caring for the planet's animals and habitats has a positive effect.

Little Red Hen
Spring Term
LITERACY, MATHS, SHARING, GROWING FOOD, PROBLEM SOLVING.
Little Red Hen sees the use of puppets, storytelling and cookery exploration to guide the children through a journey that is part of a active learning experience. Looking at the concepts of growing and sharing, the children travel with the Little Red Hen around the farm.
