Children's Storyteller Project

Updated: Sep 21, 2021

Do you love making up and sharing stories with the children in your life?

Are you the kind of person who does voices for the characters when you tell bedtime stories?

Would you be interested in sharing your storytelling with children in your local community? If that sounds like you (or someone you know) then you might be interested in being part of the Storyteller in Residence project with The Play House Theatre in Education Company!

WHO WE ARE:

We have been working in nurseries and primary schools across Birmingham using storytelling and imaginative play to support children's language, creative and social skills for over 30 years. We champion the benefits of storytelling to:

  • Help us feel connected to our communities.

  • Learn about the wider world.

  • Develop empathy towards others.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING: As part of our Creative Recovery Innovation Challenge project, Storyteller in Residence, we are offering a paid development opportunity for a storyteller with no professional experience to work with The Play House to:

  • Develop your individual storytelling style and ideas.

  • Increase your confidence and skills in interactive storytelling.

  • Be supported to share stories in a local Early Years setting such as a nursery or primary school.

  • Deadline for applying is 15th October, 12 p.m.

If you are interested and would like to get in touch for an informal chat about this project please email our artistic director juliet.fry@theplayhouse.org.uk or give us a call on 07970744317.

Send your CV with a brief outline as to why you’d like this opportunity, or an audio or video recording no longer than 5 minutes, to juliet.fry@theplayhouse.org.uk

Remember- no experience necessary, and we'd love to encourage you to get in touch if you're from a background usually underrepresented in the Arts!
