STORYTELLING DRAMA

Lead Practitioner: Juliet Fry

We will explore how storytelling drama can be a powerful teaching tool for the development of young children’s imaginations and literacy.

Looking at ways to integrate specific strategies such as role-play, teacher in role, improvisation, and problem solving into your teaching from within the context of a traditional story. These strategies give children the opportunity to:

  • Explore the themes and structures of stories

  • develop their own ideas to create a shared version of a story

  • understand dilemmas and problem solve from within a story

  • extend their vocabulary for story writing.
